Family Home Evening

So, the other night after FHE was over we were all just sitting around and talking. Ella was looking through her little church nursery manual (which is something our church has published to help teach very small children basic gospel truths.) We use it each week and every one gets to take a turn teaching the "Ella lesson," which is a very short little version of one of the lessons. Anyway, all of a sudden we see her point to a picture of Christ and say, very clearly, "Jesus!" It was so cool! We hadn't given her any prompting or anything! So of course Angie rushed for her camera and we had to get this video. She doesn't say it very loud, but that is her saying it. Just had to share! And then at the end you will notice that she is saying, "See! See!" because she wanted to look at herself on the camera. It is so exciting to hear her say new words all the time--she will try and say ANYTHING and she says so much now! I love that I am able to talk to her and she understands me and wants to learn. Babies are AMAZING and WONDERFUL!

Hey...

Does anyone out there want to hike the Grand Canyon with us in October??????? I am asking now because if you do, you might want to start training. I just thought I would put this out to the blogosphere because we can always use more hikers. If you do, let me know. Yeah--it will be so fun!! (When we are done with the hike and eating at Bunhuggers in Flagstaff that is--because we will SO deserve it!)

So, it's not THAT hot yet...

Kids are still found playing outside...

And if we can still bike over to Mesa Frozen Yogurt, the weather can't be THAT bad...

(Uhh...Logan is just being dramatic here.)

Or maybe this just goes to show what we are willing to do for sugar.

Let us keep going outside while the weather is still nice--it IS still nice, NO, I am NOT in denial...it is still nice....come on, it's only May! (Seriously, I think the evenings have been great--don't you?)

The Vegetables of our Labor

Here are some of our lovely carrots--not quite ready--you have to wait until you can see the tops coming out--but, oh so sweet when they come!

I just had to share some pics of our garden this year because it is doing so well. I am truly in love with my garden--she is so good to me and and is giving our family so much! All of the plants are blooming and producing so nicely, and it is so fun to go out in the mornings and see what is new.

Sweet onions-should be ready to have some in a few weeks--not exactly sure how to tell because we've never done onions before.

Here's an view of the plot. We have onions, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, squash, broccoli, and peas. I know that raised gardens are all the rage now, but we just like to see stuff come right up out of the ground. Of course, with all that other stuff comes grass and weeds, but I am a weirdo--I really enjoy going out and howing (sp?), weeding and getting in with my plants. We have a very lovely time together.

This morning Jack brought me in a pea to sample--yummy! And look--our green tomatoes are finally starting to get ripe--looks like I'll be canning lots of tomatoes because we are not really raw tomato fans. These plants have gone CRAZY!

Oh, how I love our garden...it is so fun to see things come from out of the ground, and to help them along their little journey...and then to eat them all up..... and then to plow them down when we are done so we can grow more....well, maybe that isn't very nice after all, but I still LOVE my garden. Thanks for patronizing me by taking some time to look at our lovely plants!
